We condemn the entire criminal prosecution process and the decisions of the courts of the Slovak Republic directed against the political actions of communists.
This is not the first time that such developments have occurred in Slovakia. Under similar conditions—whether during periods of capitalist crisis marked by the economic turmoil of the 1920s and 1930s, or under the Slovak nationalist state during World War II (the Communist Party’s activities were suspended on September 10, 1938)—communists have been subjected to comparable forms of persecution by the ruling capitalist class and its political representatives.
Nor is the timing of the current case coincidental. Today, the imperialists are redividing and resharing the world and turning the entire planet into a battlefield. Even now, the capitalists are launching an unprecedented attack on the working class, both politically and in terms of living conditions. The capitalists’ goal is to shift the costs of their deep systemic crisis, as well as the costs of the transition to a war economy, onto the workers. Today, the working class of Slovakia is being called upon to pay for the capitalists’ gigantic profits and geopolitical decisions with their sweat and blood.
The process of political persecution of communists is directly organized by both the EU and NATO. This means the blessing of those who contribute to the racist genocide of the Palestinian people, who invest in war, nationalism, and racism. It is they and their local allies, compradors, and vassals who, through their decisions, have enabled and legalized lifelong labor, and who are seeking ways to implement these “achievements” in every EU country. They are the ones who speak of democratic values and criticize countries such as Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and others.
Essentially all of them—regardless of whether they appear to be independent, left-wing, right-wing, or so-called “anti-system” in orientation—want to cement the free thinking of the working class and guard against any reaction from the working class to the further planned plundering of workers’ already meager incomes, as well as against any dissent regarding imperialist war.
We express our full solidarity with the communists of Slovakia.
